Post-Operative Instructions
Knee Arthroscopy
The operation was performed through two or three small incisions. You may experience some swelling in the joint. This is usually due to fluid used during the surgery for visualization. This fluid is usually reabsorbed by your body over time. You may have some bruising in the operated leg as well
Knee Ligament Reconstruction
You may experience some swelling in the joint. This is usually due to fluid used during the surgery for visualization. This fluid is reabsorbed by your body over time. You may have bruising in the operated leg as well. This may travel down the leg with gravity.
Total Knee Replacement
You will experience swelling in the joint. The swelling will be reabsorbed by your body over time, especially as you develop adequate muscle strength. You may have bruising in the operated leg as well. This may travel down the leg with gravity.
Shoulder Arthroscopy
The operation was performed through several small incisions. You may experience some swelling and bruising in the shoulder area. This is usually due to fluid used during the surgery for visualization or some minor bleeding from the operation. This fluid is usually reabsorbed by your body over time. The swelling may travel down the arm with gravity.
Hip Arthroscopy
The operation was performed through two or three small incisions. You may experience some swelling in the joint. This is usually due to fluid used during the surgery for visualization. This fluid is usually reabsorbed by your body over time. You may have some bruising in the operated leg as well. This may travel down the leg with gravity.
